Local cuisine and local produce for local specialities


The Restaurant La Poêlée in Clairvaux-les-Lacs specialises in local cuisine with local produce, very much appreciated by gourmets and epicureans who wish to enjoy the delicacies of simple food with a local taste. The French Jura offers a wide selection of produce, each with a particular local taste, and when combined, they define the notion of local cuisine; speciality produce includes: Morel Mushrooms, Vin Jaune, Comté and Morbier Cheese, Saucisse de Montbéliard (smoked sausage), Rainbow Trout, amongst others. As much as possible, our suppliers are local and we prepare all of our dishes  (list of suppliers available). The Chef offers the now famous 'Poêlée', local and seasonal produce baked in a cast iron pan (Poêle), Fondues and Tartiflettes, and other mild flavoured specialities for adults and children alike.

Our 'À la Carte' menu offers a wide range of regional dishes, homemade Foie Gras, Oeuf Cocotte (oven-baked egg in creamy sauce), Bresse Chicken in Vin Jaune and Morel Mushrooms, local Rainbow Trout, homemade desserts. Amongst other seasonal produce, our frogs' legs make a delicious change to everyday choices.

Two dining rooms, two atmospheres


The first and main restaurant is a typical 'Brasserie' style restaurant with large and comfortable oak tables and chairs with wrought iron lighting for a pleasant, relaxed, and convivial atmosphere. Up to 8 people can share the large tables, and individual 'boxes' make for a more personal or romantic setting (up to 4 persons); the bar is adjoining but mainly caters for the restaurant.

The second dining room is in a similar pine and wrought iron style, and is more prone to cater for groups as it can be fully independent from the main restaurant, and with its large bay window offers a well-lit atmosphere, and it can be modelled around your needs for party catering.

The Terrace


The terrace offers a great setting for eating 'al fresco' as it is essentially shaded, providing a cool environment in the heat of the summer; it is beside the church walls that give it a village-setting look.

Group bookings


If you are organising a private reception or if you need a room that can accommodate up to 60 people, the Restaurant La Poêlée offers a dining room for up to 60 people with catering services provided by us, drinks, buffet, set meal or whatever your requirements may be. The dining room has a private access and is separated from the other dining areas.
