Do you feel the need to get away into the quietness of nature, and even include a swim in a lake?

Our Hotel in Clairvaux-les-Lacs is ideally located for water-sports and outdoor activities year-round, and the full selection of winter sports are available from 20 minutes away to 1 hour, or even access to the French or Swiss Alps 2 ½ hours.

Clairvaux-les-Lacs has a lake with a beach (life guard in the summer season) 5 minutes walk from the Hotel, and is close to a large number of beautiful natural sites, waterfalls, lakes, mountains, forests, visitable caves, steep-head valleys (reculées), and magnificent viewpoints (belvédères) to see the sites from a distance and from different angles. The artificial Lake Vouglans offers the full range of water-sports including diving to visit a submerged village.

Baume-les-Messieurs is classified as one of the most picturesque villages in France set at the bottom of a steep-head valley beneath Château-Chalon, and with its a.d. 910 Abbey, waterfalls, and natural surroundings, provides the ideal location for a day-out and a picnic (tables and benches available).

Things to do and places to see

The 'Région des Lacs' offers a wide range of activities and places to visit, all within easy access and at relatively close distances from the Hotel. The orgue, (church organ) in Clairvaux-les-Lacs is just opposite the Hotel and worth a visit. Clairvaux-les-Lacs has a unique museum of scale models of a variety of vehicles together with over 100 paintings by Marcel YERLY; in all, 1,000 m² of exhibits.

In the summer season the Town Hall hosts a display featuring the lakeside dwellings from the Neolithic, Clairvaux-les-Lacs and Chalain, classed under the UNESCO National Heritage programme.

Moirans-en-Montagne offers a very interesting and complete 'Toys Museum' to be enjoyed by all, and especially children with special exhibits and early-learning play areas.

Another local produce is the 'La Vache Qui Rit' spreadable soft-cheese with their production unit in Lons-le-Saunier and their recently inaugurated Museum located on the original production area.

For cultural events go to Lons-le-Saunier for a full programme of concerts, theatre productions, cinemas, and there is always the casino, the bowling and the centre aquatic (public swimming pool).
